Tripura Finance and IT Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced a new Rs 500 crore IT Park at Amtali Bypass, Agartala, to strengthen digital infrastructure and boost employment. The state is advancing Digital Tripura initiatives, startup growth, data centre investments, and local job opportunities through technology-driven development.

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to transforming Tripura into a leading digital destination in the North East, Finance and Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Saturday announced that a new IT Park will soon be established at Amtali Bypass in Agartala with a proposed investment of at least Rs 500 crore.

The announcement was made during the 8th Foundation Day celebration of iLogitron Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in Agartala, where the Minister highlighted a series of policy initiatives and infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening the state’s startup ecosystem, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating employment opportunities for local youth.

Addressing the gathering, Singha Roy said the state government has adopted several progressive measures to support innovation and digital transformation. He pointed to initiatives such as the IT/ITeS Policy and the Sector Agnostic Tripura Startup Policy, which are encouraging startups and businesses to establish and expand their operations in the state.

“Tripura is steadily moving towards becoming a digital hub. Our policies are designed to create a conducive environment for innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment generation across multiple sectors,” the Minister said.

A major highlight of his address was the proposed IT Park at Amtali Bypass. According to the Minister, a formal proposal has already been submitted to the concerned central ministry for approval. Once sanctioned, the project is expected to significantly enhance the state’s digital infrastructure and attract technology-based industries and investments.

The Minister also outlined the government’s broader vision of building a Digital Tripura. He stated that administrative offices across the state are gradually adopting paperless systems to improve efficiency and transparency. In addition, Wi-Fi connectivity has been extended to colleges, while more than 50,000 students have received smartphones under various government initiatives to support digital learning and connectivity.

Singha Roy further highlighted another landmark investment in the state’s technology sector. Land has been allotted at Chanmari in Agartala to Bharti Airtel’s Nxtra division for the establishment of North East India’s largest private data centre along with a regional corporate office. The project, involving an investment of approximately Rs 200 crore, is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities for local residents.

Emphasising the importance of local employment, the Minister stressed that companies partnering with the state government should prioritise qualified candidates from Tripura during recruitment.

“This will ensure job security for our youth first, before hiring from outside. Our priority is to see that the young people of Tripura benefit directly from the investments being made in the state,” he said.

Apart from discussing technology and economic development, Singha Roy praised iLogitron Technologies for integrating social responsibility with innovation. He commended the company for organising a voluntary blood donation camp as part of its foundation day celebrations and noted that blood donation has evolved into a social movement in Tripura.

“There was a time when people lost their lives due to a shortage of blood. Today, under the present government, the situation has changed significantly. Voluntary blood donation has become a culture of compassion and service in Tripura,” the Minister remarked while greeting the donors participating in the camp.

The event commenced with the ceremonial watering of an Agar plant, symbolising sustainable growth and development. Distinguished blood donors were felicitated during the programme for their contributions to society.

In another significant initiative aimed at supporting digital education, desktop computers were distributed to Netaji Vidya Niketan in Udaipur and Vivekananda Shishu Niketan in Bishalgarh. The gesture reflected iLogitron Technologies’ commitment to strengthening digital access and educational resources for students.

An audio-visual presentation showcased the company’s eight-year journey and achievements in areas such as e-Governance, enterprise software solutions, digital transformation, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. The presentation highlighted the growing role of local technology firms in supporting government services and driving digital innovation across the state.

The programme was attended by Raghul Geshan B., IFS, Director of IT, Government of Tripura, along with senior government officials, representatives from the technology industry, entrepreneurs, and blood donors.

Concluding his address, Singha Roy linked Tripura’s development trajectory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a globally recognised leader in development and innovation.

“The Prime Minister has set a target of positioning India on the global platform through rapid progress in critical sectors. Tripura is moving in that direction by combining technology, education, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility to build a stronger future,” he said.
