Tripura strengthens its startup, innovation and technology ecosystem through a “Building a Unicorn in Tripura” workshop, bringing entrepreneurs, startups and experts together to promote innovation, business growth, technology adoption and sustainable economic development while supporting both emerging startups and established IT companies across the State.
Tripura is taking an ambitious step towards strengthening its startup, innovation and technology ecosystem with the organisation of a full-day workshop on “Building a Unicorn in Tripura”.
The programme, being organised by the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, in collaboration with T-Hub, Hyderabad, will be held at Hall No. 1 of Pragya Bhawan, Agartala, from 11 AM.
By bringing together entrepreneurs, innovators, startups and ecosystem experts, the workshop aims to provide a platform for knowledge-sharing, networking and exploring new opportunities for business growth.
The theme, “Building a Unicorn in Tripura,” reflects the Government’s forward-looking vision of nurturing startups with the potential to achieve exceptional growth and establish a presence in national and international markets. While building a unicorn is a long-term and ambitious goal, initiatives of this nature are expected to encourage young entrepreneurs to think bigger, innovate locally and develop solutions with wider market potential.
The Government’s approach goes beyond merely encouraging the creation of new startups. The broader focus is on strengthening the complete startup ecosystem—from developing innovative ideas and converting them into commercially viable products and services to accessing markets, adopting emerging technologies, building capable teams and creating sustainable business models.
The launch of the T-RISE portal is also expected to further strengthen this ecosystem by providing an integrated platform for better coordination, visibility and engagement among startups, entrepreneurs, innovators and other stakeholders.
At the same time, local entrepreneurs appreciate the Government’s vision and initiatives to strengthen Tripura’s startup ecosystem and believe that the proposed strategy can become even more impactful by extending support across every stage of an enterprise’s journey, including existing IT companies that have already established their businesses in the State.
According to members of the local entrepreneurial community, several existing IT companies are working to overcome various business and operational challenges. Entrepreneurs believe that supporting these established companies, alongside encouraging new startups, can further strengthen Tripura’s technology ecosystem. Their experience, skilled manpower, infrastructure, knowledge and business networks are valuable assets that can contribute significantly to the State’s digital and economic growth.
Entrepreneurs emphasise that this approach is fully aligned with the Government’s ambitious vision of creating successful startups and eventually nurturing a unicorn from Tripura. Rather than being seen as an alternative to the Government’s startup initiatives, supporting existing IT companies can complement the vision by creating a stronger, more sustainable and inclusive ecosystem for both emerging and established enterprises.
The proposed workshop is expected to provide an important platform to understand the challenges faced by the local IT industry and explore practical measures to help companies overcome difficulties, expand their operations and generate greater employment opportunities within the State.
Such measures may include improved access to markets, institutional finance, Government technology projects, mentoring and advisory support, skilled manpower, incubation and infrastructure facilities, capacity-building programmes, and stronger connections with national and international business networks.

A balanced approach that encourages new entrepreneurs while strengthening existing IT companies can help create a robust technology ecosystem in Tripura, supporting the Government’s broader vision of innovation, entrepreneurship, employment generation and sustainable economic growth.
