Ending all uncertainty and speculations state government is now ready to regularize the SSA teachers. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath was reported to have told a newspaper on Friday night that very soon the teachers recruited under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) would be regularized. But before that some formalities were to be completed.

Earlier, the High Court of Tripura Division Bench of Chief Justice Akil A Kureshi and Justice Satyagopal Chottopadyaya had passed an order directing the State government to regularize the services of contractual SSA teachers within six month. The case was filed by two SSA teacehrs Sajal Deb and Manoj Debbarma. The dateline would end on August 22 next.

However, in the meantime as the expected regularization was delayed, a sense of uncertainty and tension gripped about 5,600 SSA teachers. They were waiting eagerly for the implementation of the High Court order.

When the newspaper contacted Education minister and Cabinet spokesman Ratanlal Nath he said, “the government is considering the matter. It is expected that the regularization will be done soon.”

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb during his meeting with Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan on July 15 last had also discussed regularization of the SSA teachers.

The ruling BJP was also demanding that the SSA teachers be regularized.

The Division Bench of the High Court of Tripura had passed the order directing the state government to provide the regular pay scale to the teachers, who were appointed under Sarva Shikhya Abhiyan in various schools since 2002 and now working under Samagra Shikhya Abhiyan (SSA) since 2018.

According to sources in the secretariat, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and his government are positive on the issue and it is very likely that the good news for the SSA teachers may come in the next cabinet meeting—in all likelihood on Tuesday next.
