Spandan, an NGO dedicated to eradicate Drugs menace and empowerment of women, economically underprivileged organized a colourful cultural programme ‘Swadhinata Tumi’ at Muktadhara stadium in remembrance of the martyrs and freedom fighters of the country. The programme was attended by minister Sudhansghu Das as Chief Guest, DGP Amitabh Ranjan as Special Guest and B Palit , law secretary as Guest of Honour.

The minister in his speech dwelt upon the inherent contradictions and conflicts in the socio-economic milieu of the country, uneven development and disparities of multiple shades and sought everybody’s active participation to help the country achieve its dream.

DGP Ranjan in his speech stressed on the need of understanding the time, perspective and life of the freedom fighters by the new generation so that thec ould connect with the history and development of the nation in right earnest.

Secretary Law, B Palit in his speech expressed serious concern at the rise of drugs abuse by the youngsters throwing up a grave situation. He said the state was passing through a critical time and appealed all to join hands to fight the menace.

Secretary to the Spandan, Dr Haimanti Bhattacharjee gave the welcome address. The programme was attended by dignitaries from various fields.

Spandan had earlier also organized several programmes and rallies to create awareness among the people, especially young generation against drugs menace and about women empowerment.

“We are dedicated to address several burning issues that the society has been facing. We have of late given additional focus on anti drugs campaign considering its seriousness”, said Dr Haimanti Bhattacharjee, secretary to Spandan.
