Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha reiterated the state government’s commitment to enhancing medical facilities and improving healthcare accessibility during the 18th Foundation Day celebration of Tripura Medical College. The event, jointly organized by TMC & Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital at Hapania, marked a significant milestone in the state’s healthcare development.

Dr. Saha, who himself served as a professor at this college before assuming the role of Chief Minister, emphasized that providing accessible and high-quality healthcare to all residents of Tripura has been a top priority for his government.

During the ceremony, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the newly constructed Vivekananda auditorium at the college and unveiled a statue of Swami Vivekananda. In addition, he recognized and awarded a few MBBS students for their outstanding academic achievements.

Highlighting the need for a trauma care center at Tripura Medical College, Dr. Saha expressed the state government’s commitment to the college’s development. He pointed out that in recent years, substantial progress has been made in healthcare infrastructure within Tripura. The establishment of medical colleges, dental colleges, and nursing colleges across the state has been a significant step toward transforming Tripura into a medical hub.

Dr. Saha further revealed that nine super-specialty services have been introduced at Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital, enhancing healthcare services for the people. Additionally, the government is working on establishing another medical college in Ambassa, Dhalai district, through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, further expanding medical education and healthcare access in the region.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Ram Prasad Paul, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar – Swami Suvakarananda Maharaj, Principal of Tripura Medical College Arindam Dutta, CEO Swapan Saha, and Chairman Dr. Pramatesh Roy, among others. The presence of these key figures underlines the significance of the state’s continued efforts to enhance healthcare services and infrastructure for its residents.
