CM Holds meeting on Bru rehabilitation

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb held an important meeting on Monday to review the Bru resettlement process. During the meeting, the Chief Minister asked the officials to expedite the process to settle the Bru people.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik were also present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister during his recent meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah also discussed the progress of the Bru settlement issue

Corruption : CM seals two ration shops

The state government has sealed two Fair Price shops following corrupt practices.

The Food department was instructed to seal a Fair Price Shop in the city after Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb found irregularities in the stock.

Based on a bunch of complaints raised by the locals, the Chief Minister along with the officials paid a visit to Ration Shop no-82 at Lalbahadur Club area in Agartala on Sunday.

During inspection, the Chief Minister observed some irregularities between the stock of rice and the record of the registrar.

As per the registrar of the ration shop owned by Saikat Bhowmik, the stock of rice was supposed to be 1480 kg. But, the stock was found to be 3600 kg during the Chief Minister’s visit.

In a separate incident, the officials of the Food department found similar irregularities at ration shop no-3 in Amtali area which is run by Nani Banik. As the officials found the complaints of the locals authentic, they immediately sealed the Fair Price Shop.

BJP enters Tipra Motha’s fort, Pratima leads

Eyeing on the 2023 assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues to strengthen its base in various areas under the Autonomous District Council.

On Monday, 1045 voters from 305 families joined the saffron camp at Mandwai.

Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik welcomed the voters in presence of local party leaders.

Later Bhowmik took to twitter, the voters joined BJP keeping their faith in development-oriented politics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

With this joining programme, erosion of Tipra Motha stronghold comes into fore.

East Zone Cricket Tourney of AG from Apr 27

 The Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IA&AD) under the Office of the C&AG of India will conduct the East Zone Cricket Tournament to be held in Agartala from April 27 to 29 next.

The tournament organized by the Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Tripura will take place at MBB Cricket Stadium and Tripura Police Training Centre (PTC) Narsingarh respectively.

Six teams from the Accountants General Offices of Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand and the host team from Accountant General Office, Tripura will take part in the tournament.

These six teams will include some national-level cricket players.

The inauguration will be at MBB Stadium on April 27 and the closing ceremony is scheduled to be held on April 28. The final match is likely to be played at the MBB Ground. The organizers invited the sports enthusiasts to take part and witness the tournament.

Lovebirds commit suicide in police station

In an unprecedented and tragic turn of events, two love birds consumed poison inside a Police Station and later both died. It is learned, that one Ananda Chakma of the Shilachhari area eloped with a girl of the same area after having an affair for a long time. However, the family members of the girl did not agree to accept this and lodged a complaint with Silachhari Police. After a search, Police managed to bring the couple to the Police station. However, evading the Police attention, the couple consumed poison. Sensing the situation, Policemen rushed the duo to Shilachhari Hospital where attending doctors referred them to Udaipur Hospital. As their health conditions continued to deteriorate, both of them were referred to GB Hospital. However, the girl succumbed on the way to the Hospital while Ananda Chakma died on Monday morning. A pall of gloom descended in the area at the tragic end of an affair.

CPI-M submits deputation

 CPI-M Kumarghat Sub-division committee submitted a deputation to the BDO in support of the 11-point charter of demands on Monday.

Before submitting the deputation, the party’s sub-divisional secretary Mintu Chandra Das, speaking at a press conference said that the health services in the sub-division have collapsed.

He said, the people of the sub-division were not getting health services from the sub-divisional hospital due to an acute shortage of doctors and staff.

Das also listed water problem- irregular drinking water supply, in the sub-division.

He also alleged corruption in MGNREGA implementation.
