Six Indian Boxers Reach Finals at Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain

Six Indian boxers stormed into the finals of the Asian Youth Games 2025 in Manama, Bahrain, yesterday. India’s Anant Deshmukh also secured a bronze medal, putting up a strong fight in the men’s semifinal bout.

In the girls’ semifinals, Khushi Chand in the 46kg category registered a commanding 5-0 victory over Mongolia, followed by Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari in the 54kg class, who outclassed her rival from Kazakhstan with another 5-0 win.
Harnoor Kaur in the 66kg division defeated Chinese Taipei 5-0, while Anshika in the 80-plus kg category overpowered China in yet another clean sweep. In Session 2, Ahaana in the 50kg category edged past Uzbekistan 3-2 to reach the finals.

In the boys’ section, Lanchenba Singh Moibungkhongbam in the 50kg category booked his place in the final with a 5-0 unanimous win over Korea. Meanwhile, Anant Deshmukh in the 66kg division fought hard but had to settle for a bronze medal after losing his semifinal against Kazakhstan.

Overall, India has won 27 medals so far across all sports, four gold, ten silver, and thirteen bronze,  and stands ninth in the overall medal tally. A total of 222 Indian athletes, including 119 women and 103 men, are competing across 21 sports at the continental games, which will conclude tomorrow.
