Sensex jumps 444 points, Nifty closes above 24,000

Benchmark domestic equity indices ended 0.6 per cent higher today. The Sensex rose 444 points to close at 76,923. The Nifty also gained 140 points to settle at 24006. 
 
In the broader market on the National Stock Exchange, the Midcap 100 index added over 0.3 per cent, and the Smallcap 100 index climbed around 0.4 per cent.
