Benchmark domestic equity indices, Sensex and Nifty, ended marginally down in a volatile trade today, extending their losing streak for the third consecutive session. Both the indices had begun the day on a positive note, but failed to maintain the momentum in the latter half despite a brief recovery duringthe intra-day. The Sensex slipped 58 points, to close at 82 thousand 102, while Nifty dropped 33 points, to settle at 25 thousand 170.
The broader market indices at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed in the negative zone. The Mid-Cap index declined by almost 0.3 per cent, while the Small-Cap index dipped by over 0.3 per cent.
