Benchmark domestic equity indices, the Sensex and the Nifty, started the session with marginal gains but soon lost momentum and traded in the red. However, in the latter half, the indices rebounded and closed with gains today. The Sensex increased 336 points or 0.4 per cent to close at 83 thousand 871, while the Nifty advanced 121 points or 0.47 per cent to settle at 25 thousand 695.
The broader market indices at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed mixed. The Mid-Cap index gained 0.2 per cent, while the Small-Cap index dipped around 0.1 per cent.
