The three-day Bharat-Bangladesh Tourism Festival will begin from Sunday at Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala. Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma will inaugurate the festival in a programme which will be presided over by Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy.
Dr. Md. Abdus Sahid, MP and Chairman, Committee on Estimates and former Chief Whip, Bangladesh Parliament, and Mayor Dipak Majumder will also attend the inaugural ceremony. Besides them Secretary Kiran Gitte, Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner, Agartala- Arif Mohammad and Regional Director, Ministry of Tourism, North East- Sankha Subhra Devbarman will also remain present as special guests.
A colorful Rally will be organized by Tripura Tourism Development Corporation on Sunday morning (7 am onwards) in connection with Bharat-Bangla Paryatan Utsab- 2022, where delegates from Bangladesh and different stakeholders from the tourism sector will participate.
The rally will start from TTDCL office, Swetmahal, North Gate and traverse through Colonel Chowmuhani, Adviser Chowmuhani, Bijoy Kumar, Sat Sang Ashram, IGM Chowmuhani and Orient Chowmuhani. The rally will end at the TTDCL Office.
The three-day festival will register participation of tour operators, hotel owners, tourism officials, freedom fighters, artists, writers and intellectuals from India and neighbouring country Bangladesh.
The state government also invited various cultural organizations and tour operators from North-East India and West Bengal to take part in the Tourism Festival.
On April 17, the inaugural ceremony followed by a cultural function will be held at the Ujjayanta Palace. A galaxy of artists from Tripura and Bangladesh would perform in the cultural segment.
On the next day, the Tripura government will arrange a tour of Tour Operators from Bangladesh, North East and West Bengal to important locations including Chabimura, Neermahal, Matabari, Sepahijala and Bharat- Bangladesh Maitri Park (Chottakhola), he said.
A meeting of the Tourism officials of the two countries and tour operators and hotel owners will be held at Geetanjali State Guest House on April 19.
The Bharat- Bangladesh Tourism Festival will also include a food festival at the Ujjayanta Palace. The initiative aims at promoting the tourism possibilities.
