A schoolgirl has gone missing from Tripura’s Sabroom subdivision after leaving home for private coaching. Police have launched an investigation, suspecting a possible love trap, while authorities examine crucial leads and urge public cooperation to trace the missing student safely.
A schoolgirl has reportedly gone missing from the Palpara area under Thaibung Gram Panchayat in Tripura’s Sabroom subdivision after leaving home early in the morning on the pretext of attending private coaching classes. The incident has sparked concern among local residents and prompted an intensive investigation by the police, who are exploring all possible angles, including the possibility that the student may have been lured away through a suspected “love trap.”
According to family members, the incident took place on July 30 when two schoolgirls left their respective homes at around 5:30 a.m., informing their families that they were heading to attend private coaching classes. However, when they failed to arrive at the coaching centre, their families became worried and immediately began searching for them.
During the search operation, the guardian of one of the girls managed to trace her to Sabroom railway station. Acting swiftly, the family rescued the student from a train just moments before the Agartala-Sealdah Kanchenjunga Express was scheduled to depart. The timely intervention ensured her safe return home.
However, the second schoolgirl remains missing, and her disappearance has intensified anxiety among family members and residents of the Palpara locality. Following the incident, the girl’s family lodged a missing person complaint at Sabroom Police Station, seeking immediate assistance from law enforcement authorities.
Police officials promptly registered the complaint and launched an investigation into the case. According to preliminary findings, investigators suspect that the missing girl may have been persuaded to leave home and could have been taken to another state after allegedly falling victim to a “love trap.” While officials have not confirmed this theory, they are treating it as one of several possible leads.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police have recovered a mobile phone from the girl’s guardians. Investigators are carefully examining the device, along with the student’s recent communications, call records, digital interactions, and movements before her disappearance to establish a clearer picture of the events leading up to the incident.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the missing girl’s current whereabouts, nor have they announced any arrests in connection with the case. Police teams continue to verify every available lead and are coordinating efforts to trace the student as quickly as possible.
The disappearance has deeply concerned residents of Palpara and nearby areas, with many expressing hope for the girl’s safe and early return. Local people have urged authorities to expedite the investigation and ensure that every possible effort is made to locate the missing student.

This is not the first such incident reported from the Sabroom subdivision. Earlier in March, a 12-year-old schoolgirl from the Damdamia Bhumihin Tila area under Sabroom Police Station was reported missing for more than a week, causing widespread concern throughout the locality before authorities intensified search efforts.
Police have appealed to the public to share any information that could assist the investigation while assuring the family that all available resources are being utilized to trace the missing girl. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
