The Minister for SC Welfare, Sudhangshu Das, accompanied by top officials of the department, conducted a surprise visit to Adwaita Atithishala in the Office Lane area of the capital city on Wednesday.
The inspection revealed unsatisfactory conditions, particularly in the hygiene of bathrooms and toilets and other services intended for guests.
Expressing shock at the state of the guest house, Minister Das directed concerned officials to take immediate action and restore services within one week. Speaking to reporters, he expressed his dismay, stating, “From cleanliness to cash memo maintenance, nothing is proper here. The place is meant for common people who wish to avail themselves of a stay at a cheaper cost, but the unhygienic situation prevailing here is unacceptable.”
Minister Das asserted, “Discussions will be held with the concerned officials of the department to develop the guest house further with necessary modern amenities and make it eye-catching for the guests.” He warned of potential consequences, including the dismissal of workers and authorities, if the cleaning directives were not completed within the stipulated one-week timeframe.
The SC Welfare Minister issued a stern warning, stating that workers and authorities responsible for the cleanliness of the guest house would face termination if the necessary cleaning directives were not completed within one week.
