The Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Matabari assembly constituency, Abhishek Deb Roy, has appealed for the expansion of services at the Tripura Sundari Sub-Divisional Hospital in Udaipur.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, MLA Deb Roy emphasised the need to introduce gynaecology, orthopaedic, and paediatric wards to better serve the local population.
Deb Roy emphasised the crucial role of the Tripura Sundari Sub-Divisional Hospital in addressing Udaipur residents’ geographical challenges, as the District Hospital is situated remotely, providing essential medical care through its current general medicine ward.
“As the population in the four constituencies under Udaipur sub-division is about 3.5 lakhs, and over 80 percent of the population in R.K. Pur, Bagma, and Kakraban-Salgarah constituencies would benefit from the proposed wards, it is imperative to extend the hospital’s services,” the letter stated.
Deb Roy reassured that the Tripura Sundari Sub-Divisional Hospital, once the District Hospital, possesses adequate infrastructure to accommodate the additional wards without the need for new construction. The hospital has remained underutilised since the district hospital was shifted to Tepania in 2012 during the tenure of the Left government.
The MLA’s proposal aims to optimise the existing healthcare infrastructure, ensuring that the medical needs of the local population, particularly in the fields of gynaecology, orthopaedics, and paediatrics, are met effectively.
The expansion would enhance healthcare accessibility for the people of Matabari constituency and surrounding areas.
