Salman Khan praised Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh as fantastic actors on Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan, highlighting their distinct acting styles, intensity and energy. The episode also revisits Salman’s casting in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and memorable behind-the-scenes moments.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has praised actors Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh for their distinctive acting styles, describing both as “fantastic actors” during an upcoming appearance on filmmaker Karan Johar’s popular celebrity chat show, Koffee With Karan. Salman refused to compare their performances in Animal and Dhurandhar, highlighting the different strengths and qualities each actor brings to the screen.

Salman will appear as the first guest of the latest and final season of Koffee With Karan. The makers released a preview of the much-awaited episode on Wednesday, offering viewers a glimpse of the candid conversation between the actor and host Karan Johar.

During the interaction, Karan asked Salman to choose between Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in Animal and Ranveer Singh’s portrayal in Dhurandhar. However, Salman declined to declare one performance superior to the other, explaining that the two actors had delivered impressive performances in different ways.

“Two different kinds of performances; you cannot compare any of them. Both are fantastic actors; one has got a tremendous amount of energy, one has got intensity. Both have different styles of acting,” Salman said.

His comments highlighted the contrasting screen personalities of the two contemporary Bollywood stars. Ranbir Kapoor is known for his ability to portray complex characters with emotional depth, while Ranveer Singh has often attracted attention for his energetic performances and expressive screen presence.

Salman also singled out Ranveer’s restrained performance in Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar. The superstar pointed out that Ranveer, who is frequently associated with his high-energy personality and larger-than-life performances, demonstrated considerable control and composure in the film.

The discussion offered an opportunity to recognise the versatility of both actors without placing their performances in direct competition. Salman’s remarks also reflected his appreciation for different approaches to acting, whether driven by intensity, energy or restraint.

Beyond the discussion about contemporary cinema, the episode reportedly revisits an important moment in Salman’s career: his association with Karan Johar’s directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

During the conversation, Karan recalled how Salman eventually agreed to play a supporting role in the 1998 romantic drama after several prominent actors had turned down the part.

Recounting their meeting, Karan said Salman had asked him to narrate the film after learning that he had been approaching various actors for the role. According to Karan, Salman told him, “You’ve been shopping; come narrate the film to me tomorrow.”

Karan subsequently visited Salman’s apartment to explain the story. Salman agreed to join the project without even listening to the entire narration, according to the filmmaker’s recollection.

Karan also remembered that Salman accepted the role despite being informed that there would be no remuneration for his special appearance. His decision ultimately became part of the film’s memorable casting history.

The two also discussed an unexpected technical problem during the climax sequence of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Karan recalled that the camera operator accidentally filmed the entire sequence in slow motion, making a complete reshoot necessary.

The unexpected setback required additional time, but Salman accommodated the production by postponing his next shooting commitment by a day and completing the reshoot.

The upcoming episode promises a combination of candid industry conversations, personal recollections and reflections on Bollywood performances. From Salman’s appreciation of Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh to the behind-the-scenes story of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the conversation revisits both contemporary cinema and a memorable chapter in Hindi film history.
