Gomati district today launched Social Awareness and Actions to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully known as SAANS campaign in Udaipur. The District level programme held at Tripura Sundari Sub Divisional Hospital today was inaugurated by Abhishek Deb Roy, MLA. Along with the campaign New Born Week has also been observed as two components are basically meant for the wellness of children.
The campaign is launched with the aim of accelerating action against Childhood Pneumonia by generating awareness around protect, prevent and treatment aspects of Childhood Pneumonia. Dr. Abhijit Datta, paediatrician said that to enhance early identification and care seeking behaviours among parents and caregivers were the most important aspects to prevent this deadly disease adding the danger sign and symptoms of pneumonia and sepsis.
“Vaccination of children is the most important for the children to prevent such deadly diseases”, Dr Datta said
Around 14.3% of child deaths are occurred due to Pneumonia around the world.
Praising the new initiative and awareness programme being taken up by the Central and state governments, a transmission in health sectors to protect child and mothers are taking place, MLA Deb Roy said in the programme
He advocated all to take benefits of various government schemes like JSSK and RBSK also.

Dr. Kamal Reang, Chief Medical Officer, Gomati District and Dr. Joydeep Debbarma, SDMO Udaipur have elaborated the objective of this campaign to bring the mortality due to childhood pneumonia under three by 2025 with a package of interventions that are being taken up by the Governments. Dr. Abhijit Datta, paediatrician and Dr. Debasish Paul, sr physician of the city later on screen every child in a specialist services.
