In a bid to promote financial literacy, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched five booklets in the Santali script (Ol Chiki) for distribution among the tribal populations of Tripura and other eastern and northeastern states. These states include Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Jharkhand, and Bihar, where a significant Santali-speaking population resides.

The booklets, prepared by the RBI’s Odisha office, were formally released by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Bali Jatra in Cuttack. This initiative marks a significant step in celebrating 90 years of RBI’s operation in India. As part of its ongoing efforts to promote financial education, the RBI has translated and printed these booklets in Ol Chiki script, aimed at enhancing financial awareness.

The materials are designed to assist various segments of the Santali-speaking community, including school children, farmers, entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and senior citizens. The booklets cover essential topics such as financial products, good financial practices, digital finance, and consumer protection, providing a valuable resource for fostering financial literacy and inclusion.
