Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath emphasized the crucial role of farmers in the economic growth of the state during an event on Thursday. Inaugurating the new Agricultural sub-divisional office at Belbari in West Tripura district, Nath revealed the state government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers and agricultural development.
Minister Nath announced the government’s plan to establish Agricultural sub-division offices at every block, reflecting the administration’s dedication to reaching the grassroots level. He highlighted the government’s non-partisan approach, aiming to ensure that the benefits of various schemes reach every section of society.
Nath asserted that the state has witnessed an increase in farmers’ income, attributing it to the government’s concerted efforts. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury echoed this sentiment, stating that the government’s objective is to extend the benefits of various schemes to all eligible beneficiaries. He outlined plans to further boost farmers’ income, including direct procurement of paddy from farmers at the minimum support price twice a year.
The inaugural ceremony, attended by MLA Biswajit Kalai, MLA Swapna Debnath, MDC Ganesh Debbarma, Secretary of Agriculture Apurba Roy, Director Saradindu Das, and Belbari BAC Chairman Roken Debbarma, witnessed the inspection of the new office. Additionally, various agricultural equipment were handed over to local farmers as part of the event. The collective efforts showcased the government’s commitment to agricultural growth and the well-being of farmers in the region.
