Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated a new Academic Block–II building for science stream of Government Degree College at Santirbazar today. The construction of the building was funded under the scheme of CASP-RUSA. The project cost of the building is Rs. 422.00 lakhs. The new academic building for model degree college consist of 4 class rooms, 4 science laboratories, 2 staff rooms and 2 lavatories . Furthermore provision has been kept for future vertical extension of this academic building. “The government is working towards making all colleges, government schools a world-class and providing an opportunity to every child for quality education” said the Education Minister during inaugural programme. “The government has set up Super 30s coaching for poor and deprived students of Santirbazar sub-division. Now many rural school’s students are now securing good grades in board exams” he added. MLA Pramod Reang and MLA Arun Chandra Bhowmik were present as Guest of Honour. South Tripura District Magistrate Saju Vaheed A was present as Special Guest. The inaugural programme was presided over by Principal In-charge Dr. Sanjoy Das. The Education Minister also interacted with the students of Betaga and Santirbazar Government Degree College.

Rampada inaugurates award distribution ceremony

A programme for distributing traditional dresses, ornaments, musical instruments and props and distribution of awards was organized by Tribal Research and Cultural Institute (TR&CI ) yesterday at Sangduk Hukumu Surung Nok, Suparibagan, Agartala to promote tribal culture of the state and encourage indigenous people in different fields such as sports, culture and literature.

Tribal Welfare Minister Ram Pada Jamatia inaugurated the programme as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present there were MLA Atul Debbarma as president, Director of Tribal Welfare department Dr. Vishal Kumar as special guest and Director of TR&CI Ananda Hari Jamatia. The programme was commenced by lighting the lamp. The guests spoke on the occasion and have distributed traditional dresses, ornaments, musical instruments and props to 11 ST organizations. The guests handed over cash prize money worth 40 thousand rupees to 12 ST achievers who have excelled in the field of sports on international level and to 3 ST achievers who have excelled in the field of culture. The guests also handed over cash prize money worth 30 thousand rupees to 9 ST achievers who have excelled in the field of sports at national level. The programme was followed by traditional dance performances.
