The Power Minister of Tripura, Ratan Lal Nath, recently held a special meeting with officials from the corporate office of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) to discuss strategies for improving the electricity service in the state. The meeting, which took place on Wednesday, aimed to address the existing challenges and enhance the overall power situation.

During the meeting, the Power Minister engaged in productive discussions with power workers, including engineers from the extended Agartala region. These discussions provided valuable insights into the issues faced on the ground. Subsequently, Nath met with senior officials, including the managing director, general managers, managers, and deputy managers of TSECL. The Power Minister stressed the importance of allocating adequate resources, such as equipment, personnel, and vehicles, in different areas to ensure a reliable electricity supply.

One of the concerns raised by Nath was the potential disruptions caused by inclement weather. He emphasized the need to swiftly address issues arising from stormy rains, damaged power lines, transformers, and falling tree branches. Nath instructed the officials of the corporation to promptly restore power supply in such cases. To ensure effective monitoring, the Power Minister also instructed officers of the corporation to conduct surprise visits to various areas, allowing them to assess the situation firsthand.

Beginning from Thursday, officials from TSECL will embark on a tour of different regions, actively listening to the grievances and feedback of residents, traders, and other government officials. The insights gathered during these visits will play a crucial role in taking necessary steps and making informed decisions regarding power infrastructure improvements.

Highlighting the significance of the power sector, Minister Nath emphasized that it currently holds the highest priority. He further stressed the importance of dedicated efforts, including overtime work for personnel if necessary, to expedite the normalization of the power situation. This indicates a strong commitment from the government to resolve the power-related issues and enhance the electricity service in Tripura.
