Superstar Rajinikanth’s second single Monica from the highly anticipated film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is now out. Featuring Pooja Hegde and Soubin Shahir, with music by Anirudh, the film is set for a global release on August 14 across 100+ countries, backed by Hamsini Entertainment.

In a major treat for Rajinikanth fans worldwide, the second single titled Monica from the much-awaited Tamil action entertainer Coolie was officially released on Friday. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, Coolie features Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role and has already generated massive buzz among moviegoers and industry insiders alike.

The newly released song Monica has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with vocals by Subhalakshmi and Anirudh himself. The rap portions in the track are delivered by popular rapper Asal Kolaar. The lyrics for the song have been penned by Vishnu Edavan. The track, vibrant and energetic, has been picturised on the graceful Pooja Hegde alongside Soubin Shahir, adding an extra layer of visual appeal to its musical charm.

Coolie marks yet another musical collaboration between director Lokesh Kanagaraj and composer Anirudh, continuing a successful streak that began with their previous ventures. This will be their fourth project together, solidifying Anirudh’s integral role in shaping the soundscape of Kanagaraj’s films.

Sun Pictures, the production house backing the film, has confirmed that Coolie will be Rajinikanth’s 171st movie, and will feature an ensemble cast including industry stalwarts like Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan.

What makes Coolie particularly special is that it reunites Rajinikanth and veteran actor Sathyaraj after a long hiatus of 38 years. The duo last shared screen space in the 1986 superhit Tamil film Mr. Bharath, where Sathyaraj portrayed Rajinikanth’s father. Reports suggest that Sathyaraj had earlier declined roles in Rajinikanth’s blockbusters like Sivaji and Enthiran, making this reunion even more significant for fans.

Visually, the film promises a compelling experience, thanks to the expert cinematography of Girish Gangadharan and editing by Philomin Raj. The storyline of Coolie revolves around the high-stakes world of gold smuggling. However, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has made it clear that Coolie is a standalone film and will not be a part of his larger Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which includes blockbusters like Kaithi and Vikram.

Industry sources reveal that the film has already created a record by becoming the highest overseas procurement for a Tamil film to date. The buzz doesn’t stop there. Coolie is expected to be released in over 100 countries worldwide, making it one of the most extensive international releases for an Indian film. Hamsini Entertainment, known for its stronghold in international film distribution, is spearheading the global launch.

According to insiders, this is set to be Hamsini Entertainment’s biggest distribution effort to date. The unprecedented scale of release not only highlights the immense fan following of Rajinikanth but also signifies the growing global appeal of Tamil cinema.

Coolie is slated to hit theatres on August 14, 2025, just ahead of the Indian Independence Day weekend, making it a strategic release to attract both domestic and international audiences during the festive season.

The film’s blend of action, drama, star power, and music is being viewed as a winning formula. With Monica already striking a chord with music lovers and anticipation reaching fever pitch, Coolie appears poised to dominate the box office upon release.
