Incessant rains since the early morning dampened the festival spirit as celebrations as Eid and Akshay Tritiya, two important festivals of Muslim and Hindu communities coincided on Tuesday.
The Eid prayers were performed amidst heavy rains across the state. While many people failed to venture out to offer prayers in temples owing to the rains. However, in the second half of the day, footfalls of people in the temples rose manifold.
The Eid Namaz prayer was offered at Gedu Miah’s mosque located at Deshbandhu Chittaranjan road. Braving the harsh weather, people offered prayer as one month of fasting—“Ramadan ” came to an end.
The Muslim community people exchanged Eid greetings by embracing each other on the auspicious occasion. Children clad in new clothes were also seen roaming with parents across Agartala city.
Temples of Agartala city also received huge footfalls of devotees. “Akshay Tritiya” is widely regarded as one of the four occasions when buying property or assets is perceived to be lucky.
The Jeweler shops across Agartala city also recorded good footfalls. Attractive offers have been also announced by the shops to draw more customers.
The businessmen class also offer prayers on the occasion and various Pujas are observed in the shop premises. Small traders start new ledger books—Haal Khata for the whole year.
