Tripura with which Rabindra Nath Tagore had a long and special relations celebrates the poet’s 161st Birth anniversary with all pomp, fervour and series of colourful events. The day like previous years began with a Kabi Pranam at Rabindra Kanan near Circuit House where Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury among others offered floral tribute to the Nobel laureate.
The minister in his speech recalled the relations of Tagore with Tripura. Chowdhury said, this time Rabindra Jayanti is being celebrated after Corona pandemic and the state government had taken several programmes to mark the day in a befitting manner.
The minister in his speech dwelt on as to how Tagore redefined the Bengali culture and literary world across the globe. Besides, the ICA minister Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta, Tea Development Corporation chairman Santosh Saha, ICA Secretary P K Goyal and Director Ratan Biswas were present in the programme.
The main programme would be held in the evening at Rabindra Sata Barshiki Bhawan where Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb would attend. Along with local artists several eminent artists from out side the state would also perform in the programme.
Besides the Government several organizations across the state, clubs and local bodies also celebrated the day with high enthusiasm and various cultural programmes that included songs, recitations, solo and group dances, dramas, sit in draw for children, speeches etc.
In Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan Jayati Chakraborty and Maniomoy Bhattacharjee (singers), Debesh Thakur ( Bachik Shilpi-reciter) would perform.
In the meantime, the three-day State-level Rajarshi Utsav 2022 also began from Monday at the Old Palace at Udaipur.
