One person was killed and eight others were injured when a the vehicle -a Bolero-they were traveling in lost control on a slippery road. The incident took place at Fultali near Kanchanbari in Unakoti district.

The incident took place on Monday morning.

The injured and the deceased identified as Sridam Das (23) were a part of ‘decoration party’ and they were returning from a wedding ceremony.

Of the injured two- including the driver Sandip Sinha were reported to be critical.

Locals said, the road on which they were traveling was extremely slippery following rains and the driver Sandip Sinha who is also the owner of the vehicle and also the Decorator business lost control near the Assam Rifles camp at Radhanagar locality (Kumarghat). The vehicle then tumbled down by the road side.

Immediately Kumarghat Fire Service station personnel rushed to the spot and with the help of the locals rescued them. They were first sent to Fatikroy Primary Health Centre and were later refered to Kailashahar District Hospital. Sridam Das died on way to the hospital.

The wounded eight persons including the driver cum owner are: Sandip Singha (47) , Bapan Singha (36), Surajit Singha (24), Subal Malakar (27), Gouranga Malakar (26), Abhijit Malakar (27), Prashanta Malakar (31) and Debjit Malakar (24).

As the news of the accident spread a pall of gloom descended in Kumarghat areas.

Sources in  Kailasahar said, at least two of the injured persons were still in a very grave condition. If so required the doctors might  refer to GB Hospital in Agartala.
