North Tripura, Unakoti and Dhalai districts were lagging behind in terms of development since long. There used to be a trend to not do any developmental work in these three districts. But since 2018, after the new government took over, priority is being given to developing these districts.

Different plans are being implemented. One of its examples is this industrial infrastructure, enunciated Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating Industrial Infrastructure Development Centre at Mission Tilla, Dharmanagar of North Tripura district today. He said, earlier there were no work opportunities for youth. But the present government sent a proposal in 2019-20 to grant 10 crore 19 lakh rupees to construct an industrial unit under MSME. Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted this proposal, as a result of which this industrial centre was built. He hoped that this industrial unit will play an important role in the overall development of Tripura. He said, North Tripura district is ahead with Agar cultivation. There used to be a time when Agar used to be taken outside the state illegally. As a result, the Agar cultivators would not get their main facilities. But after the present government took over, the Agar cultivators have  benefitted through various initiatives. He hoped that this industrial unit will be beneficial for people of North Tripura district. 4 big industrial sheds, administrative building, fit solar lights, arrange water etc. These are facilities within the limits of this industrial unit. Infrastructure is there to set up bank, post office, ATM, Skill Development Training Centre, Conference Hall etc. in the administrative building.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated an Agro Tech Modern Rice Mill at Dewan Pasha in Dharmanagar. The modern rice mill was built on 6 Acre land at the cost of 14 crore rupees under Ministry of Food Processing, Government of India under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana scheme. It holds the capacity of 160 MT rice production. The rice mill will be benefitting about 600 farmers and will give employment opportunity to 80 jobless persons. There is a subsidy of 5 crore rupees. After inaugurating the rice mill, replying to media question, the Chief Minister said, the state government is buying paddy from farmers at MSP. Various steps are being taken to double the farmers’ income. Their income has increased compared to past days. He hoped that the rice mill will benefit the locals. Other dignitaries present along with the Chief Minister in both the programmes were TIDC Chairman Tinku Roy, social activist Malina Debnath, Director of Industry & Commerce department Swapna Debnath, North Tripura DM & Collector Nagesh Kumar B.
