TIPRA Motha Party (TMP) chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has announced that an interlocutor appointed for constitutional solutions for tribal people of Tripura will arrive in the state on May 8. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had promised to appoint an interlocutor for the issue, and Debbarma has stated that the arrival of the interlocutor will silence critics who have ridiculed the TMP due to his long absence from state politics.

Debbarma, who arrived in Agartala on Friday, informed the media that he had spoken with Shah and would be meeting with him again on May 10. During his visit, he also plans to meet with leaders of the party and tribal communities to discuss various issues.

In addition to the political developments in Tripura, Debbarma expressed his concerns about the ongoing violence in neighboring Manipur. He wrote on social media, “Appeal for peace in Manipur! Violence amongst our own brothers and sister will get us nowhere! All matters can be resolved when we sit across the table and discuss! Tripura has a long association with Manipur and the violence there deeply pains me!” Debbarma has also stated that he is willing to help the stranded medical students return home.

The TMP is a political party that was founded in 2019 with the goal of protecting the interests of the indigenous tribes in Tripura. Debbarma, who was previously associated with the Congress party, has been actively working to build support for the party and has been critical of the ruling BJP government in the state.
