Manipur police have warned those people who snatched weapons from security personnel during the ongoing mob violence and said that no action will be taken if the weapons are surrendered to the concerned authority.

Addressing a press conference at Imphal today, ADGP L. Kailun said that reports of looting of arms and ammunition from vulnerable police outposts have been received. The police has not taken those persons as criminal as of now and they are requested to surrender the weapons to the authority at the earliest. Mr. Kailun said the people can keep the weapon at some place and inform about it to police who will collect it. He also requested people to avoid rumours during the chaotic situation.

DGP of Manipur P. Doungel said that additional twenty companies of paramilitary force has started to arrive in Imphal and police along with the army and paramilitary is trying to control the situation. Meanwhile, the Operation Commander of an ongoing operation in Manipur, ADGP Ashutosh Sinha appealed all to remain calm and avoid mob violence. He said adequate security arrangements have been made and the situation will cool down within some days.
