West Agartala Police rescued a missing one-year-old child within 24 hours of an alleged kidnapping near Shishu Bihar School. Authorities traced the infant with community support, returned him safely to his family, and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

West Agartala Police successfully rescued a one-year-old child who was allegedly kidnapped from the Shishu Bihar School area on Wednesday evening. The infant was recovered safely within 24 hours of the incident, officials confirmed on Thursday.

Officer-in-Charge of the West Agartala Police Station, Rana Chatterjee, briefed the media, stating that an urgent alert was issued to all nearby police stations immediately after the missing child complaint was filed. Police teams were mobilized across Agartala, particularly in areas with high commuter movement, as the accused was suspected to have left the scene in an auto-rickshaw.

According to police sources, the child was reported missing on Wednesday evening, prompting widespread concern among local residents. Authorities said community participation played an important role in the rescue effort. Several locals provided crucial leads about the suspected woman who was seen leaving the area with the infant. Acting on these inputs, police checked multiple routes and conducted quick searches, leading to the child’s recovery.

Following the rescue, the infant was taken for a mandatory medical examination to assess his health and confirm his safety. The police later reunited the child with his mother at the West Agartala Police Station. The father, Dilip Shil, a resident of the Amtali area, was also present during the handover. Emotional scenes unfolded as the relieved parents embraced their child after the tense hours of uncertainty.

OC Chatterjee informed the media that the matter remains under investigation. However, police have refrained from revealing further details at this stage, including the exact location where the child was found and the identity of the woman suspected of abducting him. The motive behind the alleged kidnapping also remains unclear.

Authorities stated that more information will be shared once the inquiry progresses. Meanwhile, the swift rescue has earned appreciation from the public, highlighting effective coordination between the police and local residents in responding to emergencies involving vulnerable children.
