Assam police busted a gang of kidnappers when they arrested three persons from Loairpoa area of South Assam bordering Tripura.
Three persons Pulindra Tripura of Churaibari, Manilal Kahar and Kajal Namasudra both from Icharpar , Assam had demanded Rs 10 lakh from a businessman Ainul Haq of Icharpar under Bajaricherra police station with a threat that unless the money was paid within a week he would kidnapped and killed.
Ainul haq informed the police and accordingly a trap was laid. As planned Haq agreed to pay the money and then went to meet the three at the place they mentioned. Police also in civvies followed and laid in wait. As trio arrived on the spot for the money, they were nabbed.
Presently Karimganj police is interrogating them.
It is learnt that they were involved in similar crimes in Assam and Tripura. Police is trying to ascertain as to whether they had any other accomplices.
