Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras in Agartala Railway station on Tuesday from Darbhanga. Under the jurisdiction of Northeast Frontier Railway Agartala Railway station at Tripura has been selected among the 18 locations, said an NFR statement.  
Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra is being set up having a dimension of 2.5 metre x 4.5 metre size in the concourse area of Agartala Railway station adjacent to Platform no 1. The total area of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra at Agartala is 11.25 square meter. It will be easily accessible for the passengers as well as common people and expected to be immensely beneficial for all segment of the society.
The statement said, Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra is a campaign launched by the Government of India to provide quality medicines at affordable prices for all, particularly the poor and disadvantaged, through exclusive outlets, so as to reduce out of pocket expenses in healthcare. Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra stores have been set up to provide generic drugs, which are available at lesser prices but are equivalent in quality and efficacy as expensive branded drug. The Janaushadhi Kendra’s main vision is to bring down the healthcare budget of every citizen of India through providing “Quality Generic Medicines at Affordable Prices” and being set up at places having sufficient footfall.
