Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday thanked several world leaders for their warm wishes and congratulatory messages marking his completion of 25 years as the head of a government. Leaders from different countries extended greetings to Modi on the milestone, recalling his long public service and highlighting the strengthening of bilateral relations with India.

Modi began his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, and later became Prime Minister of India in 2014. He marked 25 years of uninterrupted service as head of government on Wednesday, with greetings coming from leaders across different regions.

Among those who congratulated Modi was Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. In response, Modi thanked her for the warm wishes and highlighted the close friendship between the two countries.

“Thank you, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, for your warm wishes and kind words. The friendship between India and Trinidad and Tobago continues to scale new heights. We look forward to strengthening our partnership in the years to come,” Modi posted on X.

Persad-Bissessar had described Modi’s completion of 25 years as a significant milestone in public service. She noted that his political journey included leadership at both the state and national levels and joined people in India and friends around the world in celebrating the occasion.

Modi also expressed gratitude to Grenada Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell for his congratulatory message. He said India deeply values its friendship with Grenada and expressed his intention to further strengthen the close ties between the two countries.

“I deeply value the friendship between India and Grenada and look forward to further strengthening our close ties,” Modi said in his response.

Mitchell had congratulated Modi on completing 25 years of continuous service as a head of government and expressed Grenada’s interest in further strengthening the friendship and partnership between the two nations.

The Prime Minister also thanked Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali for his greetings. Modi recalled his visit to Ethiopia in December and his recent meeting with Ali in New Delhi, underlining the importance India attaches to its Strategic Partnership with Ethiopia.

“India greatly values its Strategic Partnership with Ethiopia, and I look forward to working closely with you to further deepen our cooperation and friendship,” Modi posted on X.

Ali had described Modi’s milestone as a key moment in his public service, recalling that he first became Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 before becoming Prime Minister of India in 2014.

Modi also thanked Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema for his congratulatory message. He said India deeply values its friendship with Zambia and expressed confidence in further strengthening the bilateral partnership.
