PM Modi and HM Amit Shah praised Tripura’s rapid development, calling it a front-runner in India. Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted major infrastructure projects, job creation, and spiritual tourism initiatives, including a ₹97.70 crore Shakti Peethas Park, showcasing Tripura’s transformation under BJP rule over the past seven years.
Tripura has emerged as one of the leading states in India in terms of development and growth, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Wednesday. Addressing a public function in Agartala while distributing appointment letters to 184 newly recruited junior engineers under the Public Works Department (PWD), CM Saha said the state’s remarkable progress in the last seven years has been recognised by the country’s top leadership.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently highlighted Tripura’s achievements during a public event in Odisha and encouraged people across the country to visit the state. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, too, appreciated Tripura’s development in a speech delivered in Kerala,” the Chief Minister noted.
Dr. Saha emphasized that the BJP-led state government has been working diligently to fulfill the Prime Minister’s vision. He added that the transformation across key sectors—from infrastructure and tourism to healthcare and employment—reflects the commitment and effective governance of the current administration.
One of the major highlights of his speech was the announcement of several central allocations under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE). These include ₹122 crore for a state-of-the-art drug de-addiction centre at Bishramganj in Sepahijala district and ₹202 crore for setting up Tripura’s first government dental college.

The Chief Minister proudly stated that Tripura now ranks second in the northeastern region in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) after Assam, and second in per capita income after Sikkim.
“Tripura is blessed with vast natural resources and rich biodiversity. Our government is actively working to harness these resources for the benefit of our people, focusing on sustainable development and environmental protection,” CM Saha added.
He also revealed that the state government has allocated ₹7,000 crore in the 2025-26 state budget for infrastructure development. However, he acknowledged the unique challenge posed by the state’s long monsoon period, which limits fieldwork to just four months in a year. Government officials have been instructed to align their plans and execution accordingly.
The Prime Minister has also advised the state to develop a world-class tourism destination to attract not only domestic but international travelers as well, Saha informed.
On the employment front, the Chief Minister said the government has provided 19,742 regular jobs in the last seven years, apart from engaging around 7,000–8,000 individuals through contractual and outsourcing means.
Dr. Saha also laid out his vision for promoting spiritual and cultural tourism in the state. He mentioned a major initiative—the construction of a ₹97.70 crore project to build a 51-Shakti Pithas Park at Banduar in southern Tripura’s Gomati district.
“This ambitious park will feature replicas of 51 Shakti Peethas, spread across India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. It will also include a digital museum, an amphitheatre, a sky bridge, and one of the tallest Nataraj statues,” he said.

Spanning over 15 acres, the Shakti Peethas Park is expected to become a landmark destination for spiritual tourism and is aligned with the state’s broader mission to showcase its cultural heritage.
The event was also attended by Power and Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, PWD Secretary Kiran Gitte, and Information & Cultural Affairs Department Secretary Pradeep Kumar Chakravarty.
