Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives due to a road accident in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh in which eight people were killed and four seriously injured. The Prime Minister wished a speedy recovery to the injured and expressed condolences to those who lost loved ones in the mishap. The Prime Minister announced an ex gratia of two lakh rupees from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given 50 thousand rupees. 
 
 
The accident occurred when a vehicle fell into the river on the Thal-Pithoragarh road in the Muwani area of Pithoragarh district last evening. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the accident and directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment for the injured.
