Meanwhile, the graduate and Post-graduate unemployed Physiotherapists submitted a deputation to the Director of the Health Department on December 27 last demanding government jobs. The Tripura Unit of IAP extended support to the demand and urged the government to look into the matter.

Addressing a press meet in Agartala on Friday, president of IAP, Tripura Unit – Dr Birbar Debnath (PT) said, “We are supporting the demand of physiotherapists pertaining to their demand for jobs in the State Health Department and drawing the attention of the State Government for speedy recruitment of them”.

Apart from extending our support, Dr Debnath continued, “We are also making some additional demand for the sake of the physiotherapists.”

Detailing the demands, he said, the organization is demanding the appointment of qualified physiotherapists under the Directorate Health Services and in different sports boards of the State government. Dr Debnath also demanded modification in the recruitment policy for the physiotherapists. The IAP leaders demanded the recruitment rules for the Physiotherapists must be upgraded from’ Group C’ to minimum ‘ Group B, Gazetted’ to ‘Group A, Gazetted’ according to the qualification and experience.
