Ratan Lal Nath slams CPIM and Congress for failing development in Tripura, highlights BJP’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, and economy, and urges voters to support BJP candidate Jahar Chakraborty in Dharmanagar by-election for continued progress.
Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday launched a sharp attack on opposition parties, asserting that people of the state will reject both the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) and the Indian National Congress for their alleged failure to work for development. He emphasized that under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tripura has witnessed unprecedented growth and welfare initiatives.
Addressing two election rallies in Dharmanagar in support of BJP candidate Jahar Chakraborty, Nath said that the ruling party is seeking votes solely on the basis of development, while questioning the agenda of the opposition.
“BJP is asking for votes for development. But for what purpose are CPIM and Congress seeking votes? People will reject them because they have failed to deliver,” Nath said during his speech.
Highlighting the achievements of the state government, Nath pointed out that social pensions have been increased significantly and infrastructure development has reached new heights. He recalled his earlier visits to Dharmanagar, noting the absence of proper roads in the past.

“I had visited Dharmanagar earlier, but I never saw pucca roads then. Today, the transformation is visible. Our former MLA Biswa Bandhu Sen played a crucial role in this progress, and the remaining development work will be completed by Jahar Chakraborty and the BJP,” he added.
The minister further highlighted improvements in connectivity, stating that the length of National Highways in the state has expanded from 199 kilometers to 903 kilometers under BJP rule. He also underlined the success of healthcare schemes, mentioning that over 16 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, while more than 5.83 lakh families have been covered under the Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana.
“Not a single eligible family has been left out. Our government has taken one welfare-oriented decision after another to ensure inclusive growth,” Nath said.
Referring to India’s economic growth, Nath stated that the country has emerged as the fourth-largest economy in the world and is on track to become the third-largest soon. He credited this progress to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Earlier, India depended on importing rice, but today we are exporting it. This transformation has been made possible under the leadership of PM Modi. He has prioritized farmers’ welfare and economic development, and we are implementing similar policies in our state,” Nath remarked.
Drawing comparisons between political parties, Nath said that while Congress, established over 141 years ago, has around 2.5 crore members, and the Communist Party of China has nearly 9.8 crore members, the BJP, despite being only 46 years old, has grown into the largest political party with over 14 crore members.
He also noted that the upcoming election in Dharmanagar was necessitated by the untimely demise of Biswa Bandhu Sen. Expressing confidence in BJP’s candidate, Nath said that the party would continue its development agenda in the region.
“CPIM ruled the state for 35 years and Congress for 10 years, but neither delivered meaningful development. In just 7.5 years, BJP has transformed Tripura. The people understand this difference and will vote accordingly,” he asserted.

Reiterating his criticism, Nath concluded that both CPIM and Congress have failed to meet the aspirations of the people and will face rejection in the upcoming polls, while BJP will continue to seek public support for sustained development and progress.
