Odia Samaj Tripura celebrates Utkal Dibas 2026 in Agartala with vibrant cultural performances, Odissi dance, community unity, and key dignitaries. Event highlights Odisha-Tripura cultural ties, CSR initiatives, and recognition of excellence through Priya Odia award.
Odia Samaj Tripura celebrated the 90th Utkal Dibas (Odisha Day) alongside its 16th Foundation Anniversary with immense enthusiasm and cultural vibrancy at the Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala. The grand event reflected the deep-rooted cultural ties between Odisha and Tripura, resonating with the patriotic spirit of “Vande Utkal Janani.”
The celebration witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities. Swami Amartyananda, Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission, attended as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he emphasized the importance of spiritual values, ethical living, and collective responsibility in building a harmonious and progressive society.
Sanjeev Kumar Janjua, Asset Manager of ONGC Tripura, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. He acknowledged ONGC’s continued support to the Odia community since 2011. The Samaj proposed strengthening this partnership by channeling Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives into critical sectors such as healthcare, digital education, and sustainable livelihood development, especially for tea garden communities across Tripura.
The event also brought together distinguished Odia professionals serving in the state. Among them were Sarat Kumar Patra, Director of National Institute of Technology Agartala, and Dr. Hemant Kumar Pratihari, Director of National Forensic Sciences University and the Forensic Science Laboratory. Dr. Pratihari announced financial assistance for meritorious students from tea garden communities, aiming to inspire academic excellence.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of the prestigious “Priya Odia–2026” award to Dr. Sarat Kumar Das. He was honored for his unwavering dedication and outstanding service, symbolizing humility, inspiration, and commitment to community progress.
The cultural segment captivated the audience with mesmerizing performances. A renowned troupe from the Sanskruti Bharati Dance Academy, deputed by the Government of Odisha, showcased classical and folk traditions, including Odissi and Sambalpuri dance forms. Additionally, members of the Odia Samaj, including children and families, delivered vibrant performances reflecting the richness of their heritage.
In a remarkable display of unity, Odia community members from various tea garden regions across Tripura participated enthusiastically, presenting colorful folk performances that celebrated their roots and identity.
Another significant moment was the release of the annual souvenir “Chakadola,” which encapsulates literary works, cultural reflections, and the inspiring journey of Odia Samaj Tripura over the years.
The President of Odia Samaj Tripura, Bishnu Charan Pati, and Secretary Samir Diabagh expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Tripura for their continued affection and support. They highlighted that the emotional and cultural bond between Odisha and Tripura continues to grow stronger with time.
