Pijush Kanti  Biswas , Congress president of the TPCC exhorted people of the state to oppose and protest the central government’s decision to privatize the bank.

Addressing a press conference that coincided the visit of the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Biswas said, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had done a great job by nationalising the banks to that the bank services could reach the poors of the villages. Former Prime Minister introduced the rule so that poor farmers could get loan in lower interest for agricultural purpose and construction of houses. The main purpose was to protect the interest of poor section of people to strengthen their economic condition with the help of bank loan.

He said, after becoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi thought that the post of Prime Minister was like a chief of a business organization. He considered that protecting interest of poor was not necessary to continue business. So he forgot interest of under privileged people. In this context Biswas appealed all to protest against such fatal step of bank privatization.
