Crime Branch of the Tripura Police interrogated senior CPI-M leader Pabitra Kar on Friday in connection with an alleged corruption case.

Kar said  he was questioned by the Crime Branch officials for over three hours and that he had to answer the same questions which had already asked before.

This time, however, he was also asked to give a written reply of the questions related to properties, the CPI-M leader told the media.

“Police are behaving well but being seated in a room for over three hours itself is harassment. The BJP government is levelling false allegations on us,” he said.

Meanwhile, a case was filed against ex CPI-M MLA Pabitra Kar by the Vigilance on July 2 last.

Jeremiya Darlong, Dy. SP (Vigilance), had lodged the FIR at Bodhjungnagar police station (29/2021) under section 13(2)/ 13(1C) of Prevention of Corruption Act.

In connection with the same case, earlier the Crime Branch had carried out an 11-hour-long raid at Kar’s residence in presence of a magistrate on July 09 last.
