At Paris Olympics 2024, Avinash Sable created history last night by becoming the first Indian male athlete to qualify for the men’s 3000m steeplechase final. Sable finished fifth in his heat with a timing of 8:15.43 minutes to qualify for the finals scheduled for 8th of August.
Earlier, in Table Tennis team event, Indian women’s including Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula, and Archana Kamath beat the Romanian team by 3-2 in the Round of 16 match. With this win, they have qualified for the quarterfinal, scheduled to be held tomorrow.
In Badminton, Lakshya Sen lost to Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia by 21-13, 16-21, 10-21 in the Bronze medal match.
In shooting, Indian Shooters Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan lost to China in the Bronze medal play-off in skeet mixed team event.
In Wrestling, Nisha Dahiya lost to Pak Sol Gum of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in 68kg freestyle quarter-final before an injury in the second period of the match forced a heartbreaking defeat.
