A modern Orchidarium will soon be seen greeting the visitors in the Oxygen Park, located at Salbagan area of the city.

The proposed state-of-the-art Orchidarium, a step towards enhancing the growth of eco-tourism, will enable the people to know more about the varieties of orchids, said an official privy to the development.

The plan that aims at conservation of various species of orchids found in Tripura is being implemented by the Forest department.

According to a tweet from Tripura Chief Secretary Kumar Alok said the new Orchidarium is likely to be ready for public visit by June end next.

“In order to conserve various species of orchids found in Tripura a modern Orchidarium will be set up by the Forest Department at Oxygen Park in Agartala. Hopefully it will be ready for public visit by June end,” the Chief Secretary tweeted.

Tripura is the home for varieties of orchids and an Orchidarium is an area in a park or botanical garden dedicated to orchids.

The Oxygen Park, a place to inhale fresh air, is already seeing a good number of visitors every day. Once opened, the orchidarium will be an additional attraction for the people visiting the Oxygen Park.
