In a shocking incident one Subhash Pak was electrocuted and eight others were seriously injured when a high voltage electric wire all of a sudden snapped and fell on his home in Bishramganj.  The incident took place at around 2 pm on Friday. All the injured , some of them serious, were from the same family. Two among them being critical were rushed to GB hospital.

The incident sparked off huge resentment among the locals of Pal para and they staged a road blockade of about three hours on Bishramganj-Agartala road. The villagers squarely blamed the Power department accusing it of it negligence.

District Magistrate, Sepahijala- Viswashree B, SDPO Bishalgarh Rahul Das, Sepahijala Zilla Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta and BJP’s Sepahijala district president Gaurang Bhowmik visited the house. The District Magistrate assured the family of looking into the matter seriously.

The SDM Bishalgarh also visited the PHC where the injured were all taken. Subhash Pal was declared brought dead.

Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) also in a press statement said that a committee would be formed by Saturday to probe into the incident. The TSECL said, appropriate action would be taken against those responsible for the incident within next seven days and financial assistance would be extended to the affected family. 

It may be mentioned here in recent time several such electrocutions were being reported from various parts of the state. 

Only recently three workers were recently electrocuted at Laltilla in Sabroom when they were working on powergrid line and came in contact with high power live wires.

Three  more persons also died at Tankipara of Kanchanpur sub-division on June 27. The lorry in which they were traveling on Kanpwi-Agartala road came in contact with a high-voltage live electric wire.

Deputy Chief Minister who is also Power Minister Jishnu Dev Varma in his social media platforms also said that the matter would investigated into and compensations would be extended to the affected family.

Demands are being raised that TSECL must instruct its local offices to inspect the power lines running over the rural villagers properly so that any loose connections or weak parts are forthwith removed and appropriate technical steps taken to avert similar accidents.
