All the BJP candidates including Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu dev Varma, MoS Pratima Bhowmik, party president Rajib Bhattacharjee et al submitted their nomination papers to the respective Returning Officers on the last day of the nominations-Monday. BJP’s ally IPFT candidates also submitted their papers.
The opposition Congress candidates including sitting MLA Sudip Roy Barman, PCC president Birajit Sinha , former PCC president Gopal Roy , former MLA Asish Saha , TIPRA Motha nominees also submitted their nominations.
While most of the CPM candidates had already submitted nominations before, 13 more submitted on Monday. CPM supported independent candidate Puroshattam Roy Barman also filed his nomination on Monday for contesting from 7-Ramnagar assembly constituency.
Trinamool Congress candidates also filed their nominations for 27 assembly constituencies across Tripura.
All the candidates, mostly the ruling party candidates were led to the RO’s office by huge colourful rallies. Almost all the city roads were crowded and several naka bandis were put up to control the swelling gathering and massive security arrangements were made.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha was accompanied by two Chief Ministers from Manipur and Assam- N Biren Singh and Himanta Biswa Sharma.
Dr who is once again contesting from Bordowali said : “I have been receiving massive response from people across the state including my own assembly constituency Bordowali. People are greeting me with a smile of satisfaction as I’m reaching out to their doorstep”.
Assam Chief Minister who was with Dr Saha said, the Communists are zero in entire world and the Congress is also a Zero in entire India. Zero plus zero makes zero only”.
On the other hand , Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman claimed that people of the state were waiting to see ‘new sunrise’, though he appeared a bit down following the fall of the Opposition alliance.
TIPRA Motha Chairman Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma accompanied Party’s candidate Swapna Debbarma as she filed her nomination papers for Mandwi assembly constituency.
