In Odisha, a massive voter turnout of 75.37 percent was recorded till 5 this evening in the Nuapada Assembly by-poll. There were no reports of any untoward incidents during the polling which began at 7 this morning amid tight security. The by-election was necessitated following the death of four-time MLA Rajendra Dholakia of BJD.
Nuapada Assembly constituency is witnessing a three-corner contest among Jay Dholakia of BJP, Snehnagini Chhuria of BJD and Ghasiram Majhi of the Congress, while there are 14 candidates in the fray. The counting of votes of the by-poll will be held on the 14th of this month and the result will also be declared on the same day.
