The North East Regional Sports Week was kicked off at the Main Stadium of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex of Manipur on Thursday. The mega sports event has been organised in connection with ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Manipur under the funding of North Eastern Council.
The Sports Week will continue till 3rd of May and contingents from seven North East states will compete in select disciplines of Archery, Badminton, Boxing, Football and Table-tennis. Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh attended the opening ceremony of the Sports Week held today at Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal.
Welcoming all the participating players, Mr. Biren expressed the happiness of hosting the Sports Week. He said that the Sports Week would celebrate the sporting spirit across all the North-Eastern States and would also showcase the sportsmanship of our talented players in the select disciplines.
