Kiran Gitte , Secretary PWD said at this moment emphasis is being given on keeping the road communications normal. He was addressing a press meet in the wake of the devastating flood along with Power secretary Abhisek Singh and Revenue secretary Brijesh Pandey.

 He said, although there were cracks on NH 8 , an alternative arrangements have been made to bring the fuel and essentials to Agartala. For this the tankers and other goods carrying lorries were being rerouted to Kamalpur from Ambassa. After reaching Manikbhandar the lorries would then take the Khowai road to reach Agartala.

“There is no crisis for fuel as arrangements were already made”, he asserted.

Gitte who is also secretary to Health department said, all doctors and others managing the emergency health services have been asked to stay put in their respected areas and not to leave the station despite the ensuing holidays. He said their presence is required keeping in mind the unprecedented situation and emergency needs of the flood affected people.

He said soon special health camps will also be organized across the state for the affected people.

Gitte informed the media that all efforts are on and no stone is left unturned to keep the essential commodities reaching to people.

“We have shifted fuels to the flood affected areas using the helicopters also “, he added.

Power Secretary Abhisek Singh gave details of the destruction that were caused in the power sector as many electric stations, and power facilities got submerged. He said , all necessary steps are being taken to  bring back the power situation to normal. In some affected areas power transmission has already been normalized while in some areas works are still going on in warfooting.
