The temple town Udaipur is facing serous threat of flood even as the situation in the rest of the state improved considerably following breach of canal through which Gomati water is reported to be gushing in.
While there were reports of small breaches were reported earlier in the canal , it seems that no effective measures were taken and on Friday evening a fissure widened and water started entering the town.
The Gomati river had been flowing menacingly although other rivers’ water level decreased.
On Friday evening as the situation worsened district administration sounded alert asking the residents of different places across Udaipur to move to safer locations immediately.
Reports reaching here said, the embankment breached at Canal Chowmuhani and now water is flowing to places including Brahmabari, Ramesh Chowmuhani, and Rajarshi Hall areas.
Rescue agencies have been prepared to face the eventualities and senior officials from the concerned departments including that of civil administration and police are monitoring the situation round the clock.
