The Northeast Frontier Railway has taken a proactive step to address the surge in passenger demand by introducing a series of one-way special trains, says an NFR press statement from CPRO Sabyasachi De. These additional trains will operate on 25th and 26th May, 2023, providing much-needed relief to travellers facing overcrowding issues.
One such special train, numbered 05609, will commence its journey from Silchar at 18:45 hours on 25th May, 2023 (Thursday). It will traverse through key stations such as New Haflong, Guwahati, Goalpara Town, New Bongaigaon, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar, Barauni Jn., Hajipur Jn., and Chhapra, before arriving at Gorakhpur at 05:45 hours on 27th May, 2023 (Saturday). Comprising 18 coaches, the train will include sleeper class and second seating coaches to accommodate passengers comfortably.
Another special train, designated as 05610, will embark on its journey from Agartala at 10:00 hours on 25th May, 2023 (Thursday). It will pass through New Karimganj, New Haflong, Guwahati, Goalpara Town, New Bongaigaon, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, and Bhagalpur, eventually reaching Gaya at 23:30 hours on the following day. The train will consist of 20 coaches, offering sleeper class and second seating options.
Additionally, special train number 05650 will depart from Guwahati at 20:40 hours on 26th May, 2023 (Friday). This train will follow a route encompassing Barpeta Road, New Bongaigaon, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar, Barauni Jn., Mirzapur, Itarsi, Jalgaon Jn., and Ahmednagar, culminating at Pune at 18:20 hours on 28th May, 2023 (Sunday).
With 18 coaches onboard, this special train will cater to passengers with AC 3-tier, sleeper class, and second seating accommodations.
Notably, passengers who were on the waitlist for other trains operating on the same route can avail themselves of the facilities provided by these special trains.
