A delegation led by Arun Kumar Choudhury, General Manager (Construction) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway), met with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at the Secretariat today. The discussion focused on enhancing railway connectivity, infrastructure development, and upcoming railway projects in the state.
Key topics covered included the progress of railway electrification, the introduction of electric passenger trains from Badarpur to Sabroom, and the conversion of single-line tracks to double-line tracks. The delegation also discussed the Agartala-Guwahati Intercity Rail Service, the status of 23 railway overbridges, and modernization plans for Agartala, Dharmanagar, and Udaipur railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Additionally, the meeting addressed new railway projects, including the introduction of express trains from Agartala to Jammu, Puri, and Gaya, the development of an alternative railway line from Pecharthal to Dharmanagar via Kailashahar, and enhanced railway connectivity between Jirania Station and Bodhjungnagar and RK Nagar industrial areas. The extension of Sabroom Station to the Sabroom Integrated Check Post, the launch of the Vande Bharat Express between Guwahati and Agartala, and the construction of a fuel storage depot at Sekerkote were also discussed.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for cleanliness at railway stations and urged officials to transform Agartala Railway Station into a world-class facility. Also present at the meeting were Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Secretary to the Chief Minister, and Maitri Debnath, Joint Secretary of the Transport Department.
