1. Offices, educational institutions closed on Poll day

The general administration department of the state government has informed that on June 23rd, 2022 (Thursday) bye-poll to 6-Agartala, 8-Town Bardowali, 48-Surma (SC) and 57-Yubrajnagar assembly constituencies will be held. All government offices, courts, educational institutions, financial institutions and other institutions in these four constituencies will be closed for voters to cast their votes in the bye-election.

Employees of various industries in these four assembly constituencies, employees of other organizations under the state government and employees of the business centres will get paid leave on that day to exercise their voting right.

Government employees who are voters in these four constituencies but are working outside these constituencies will get special casual leave to exercise their voting right. The same is applicable for casual or daily wage labourers. The workers will get paid leave to exercise their voting right.

If the absence of a voter causes danger or harm to his work, the directive will not be effective, the general administration said in a statement.

2. Meet on Bankim Chandra’s birth anniv celebration

A preparatory meeting was held with the initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs department at the conference hall of Panisagar Nagar Panchayat yesterday regarding the celebration of North Tripura District-Level Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s birth anniversary. The meeting was presided over by Chairperson of Panisagar Nagar Panchayat Anuradha Das. Others present in the meeting were Sabhadhipati of North Tripura Zilla Parishad Bhabatosh Das, MLA Binoy Bhushan Das, Vice Chairperson of the Nagar Panchayat Dhananjoy Debnath, DCM Pradip Kumar Sarkar, Assistant Director of North Tripura ICA office Chandan Sarkar and officials of different departments. It was decided in the meeting that the District-Level birth anniversary of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay will be observed through different event. Ofloral tribute will be paid to the image of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay on June 26 at Panisagar Town Hall at 8 am. The main programme will be held on June 29 at 12 pm at Panisagar Town Hall. Discussion round, quiz competition, picture exhibition and cultural event will be conducted. President of the meeting and Chairperson of Panisagar Nagar Panchayat Anuradha Das hoped for everyone’s cooperation in the successful conduction of the programme.

3. Meeting of Social Justice Standing Committee held

A meeting of Social Justice Standing Committee of Khowai Zilla Parishad was held yesterday at the conference of the Zilla Parishad. The meeting was presided over by President of the Standing Committee Swarupa Dutta. Others present in the meeting were Sabhadhipati of the Zilla Parishad Joydeb Debbarma, Sahakari Sabhadhipati Hari Shankar Pal, Vice-Chairperson of Tripura Women’s Commission Ashmita Banik, Members of the Standing Committee Sabitri Deb (Biswas), Shefali Rani Roy, Sunita Das and Member Secretary of the Zilla Parishad Abhiram Debbarma and Panchayat Extension Officer (Zilla Parishad) Nitai Nama.

President of the Standing Committee Swarupa Dutta called on everyone present in the meeting towards proper implementation of different developmental works of the government for welfare of the people and ensure good governance and corruption-free administration. CDPO of Social Welfare & Social Education department, District office, Dinesh Debbarma said, there are total 1042 Pre Primary Schools in Khowai district where 26 thousand 767 children study. There are 1897 pregnant ladies and 2439 lactating mothers in the district. There are 1010 Aganwadi Centres in the district. 812 Pre Primary Schools have clean drinking water connection. 677 Anganwadi Centres have lavatories and 790 Anganwadi Centres have kitchens. Apart from that, mid day meals are available in 1042 Pre Primary Schools in the district. Services under POSHAN Abhiyan in the previous financial year have been provided to total 49 children in different ICDS Project areas to alleviate malnutrition problems. Cooking gas connections have been provided to 441 Pre Primary Schools in the present financial year. Vice Chairperson of Women’s Commission Ashmita Banik called on the concerned officials to generate awareness on effects of dowry, human trafficking and drugs through Social Welfare & Social Education department.
