Tripura government invites the Russian Federation as Partner Country for Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 while Minister Ratan Lal Nath receives invitation to attend the prestigious North American Bengali Conference in New York, strengthening international cultural and investment ties.
Fresh efforts to strengthen international investment and cultural partnerships have placed Tripura in the global spotlight after the state government initiated discussions with the Embassy of the Russian Federation ahead of the proposed Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026.
According to the Industries and Commerce Department, virtual discussions were held on Sunday to explore possible cooperation in several sectors considered vital for Tripura’s economic growth and industrial expansion. Areas discussed during the meeting included tourism, information technology, agro-processing, oil and gas, bamboo industries, healthcare, education and technology-driven development initiatives.

Senior officials of the state government participated in the discussions, including Industries and Commerce Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, who attended the virtual meeting from Agartala. The state government has formally invited the Russian Federation to participate as the “Partner Country” in the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, which is scheduled to be held on July 9 and 10 next year.
Officials stated that the initiative is aimed at attracting international investment while building long-term strategic partnerships with foreign countries. The government believes Tripura is gradually emerging as an important investment destination in Northeast India due to growing infrastructure projects, industrial expansion and improved connectivity.
The proposed business conclave is expected to bring together investors, industrial groups, policymakers and international delegates to discuss opportunities in trade, manufacturing and sustainable economic development. Officials also indicated that sectors such as bamboo-based industries and agro-processing hold significant potential for foreign collaboration because of Tripura’s natural resources and geographical advantages.
Meanwhile, another development with international significance has drawn attention in the state’s political and cultural circles. Senior Tripura minister Ratan Lal Nath has reportedly received an invitation to attend the 46th edition of the North American Bengali Conference scheduled to be held in New York, USA, from July 2 to 5.
The conference will take place at White Plains in Westchester under New York City and is being organised by the USA-based Cultural Association of Bengal. Sources close to the minister said the invitation letter was received on May 15 and confirmed that Nath has been invited as a guest of honour.
The annual conference is regarded as one of the most prominent gatherings celebrating Bengali culture in North America. Thousands of artists, intellectuals, writers, actors and cultural activists are expected to participate in the event.
The programme schedule includes Bengali music performances, dance presentations, poetry recitations, cultural exhibitions and a large trade fair featuring nearly 70 stalls showcasing traditional art, cultural heritage and musical instruments linked to Bengali identity.
Sources close to Nath stated that the minister is pleased with the invitation and is interested in attending the conference. However, his participation will depend on administrative responsibilities and official commitments in Tripura during that period.
